Ten Represent Justify at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga

Justify has already found success with his first few yearlings through the ring this sales season and looks for even more when his first large group visits the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga pavilion on August 9 – 10. In all, 10 first crop yearlings hailing from some of the best dirt and turf pedigrees are scheduled for an appearance during the two night event.

A half-brother to two stakes performers kicks off proceedings as Hip 10 from the Hill ‘n’ Dales Sales Agency consignment. Bred by Orpendale, Chelston, and Wynatt, he is out of Galileo mare Together, who won the Grade I Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup and was second in two different classics. Together is the dam of two stakes placers from seven to race with the mare seeing an updated four winners from seven to race after the catalog was released.

Eaton Sales-offered Hip 41 has seen plenty of updates in the past few months. The colt out of Grade I Spinaway Stakes winner Appealing Zophie is a half-brother to Grade I Belmont Stakes winner Tapwrit and both his half-brother Ride a Comet and half-sister Inject have placed in graded stakes recently. The colt’s half-sister Blue Ivy is also the dam of stakes winner Kenai Bob, who won races on June 28 and July 10.

The Barronstown Stud-bred colt saw his dam visit Justify again in 2020 and 2021.

Chester and Mary Borman are offering a colt out of their Grade I Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner Bar of Gold through Sequel New York as Hip 45. Bar of Gold is already off to an excellent start as a broodmare with her first foal, a juvenile colt named Coinage, breaking his maiden on June 17 by 6 ¾ lengths. Coinage then added blacktype to his resume two weeks ago with a third place finish in the Rick Violette Stakes at Saratoga.

Bar Of Gold is one of three stakes performers for her Grade III winning dam Khancord Kid, who is also the dam of American Pharoah’s stakes-placed Homeland. Khancord Kid has a yearling Justify filly and visited Uncle Mo this year.

Another out of a Galileo mare is Hip 83 consigned by Eaton Sales. The first foal out of stakes winner Easter Lily, the filly was bred in Ireland by China Horse Club after they purchased her dam carrying this yearling for $850,000 in 2019. Easter Lily is also a full sister to stakes winner and Group III-placed Circling and their stakes winning dam Chanting is one of two stakes winners for her Grade II winning, dual Grade I-placed dam Golden Reef, who has seen four daughters produce stakes winners.

The family has true international form to appeal to all buyers. Her dam won a stakes in Ireland, her third dam won a graded stakes and placing at the Grade I level in the U.S. and her granddam’s half-sister is the dam of Australian stakes winner and Group I-placed Cool Chap.

Hip 187 from Paramount Sales is the second foal out of a winning half-sister to Grade II winner Bel Air Beauty.

The filly has plenty to suggest she’ll be an excellent producer and racehorse. Bel Air Beauty is the dam of Canadian champion Stacked Deck among three stakes performers, another half-sister is the dam of Grade III winner True Royalty, and two other half-sisters have produced stakes performers as well. The family also includes Grade I winners Grecian Flight and Bullsbay. The filly was bred by Rockingham Ranch and has an April-born half-brother by American Pharoah.

The last through the ring for Justify is a half-sister to four-time Grade I winner Princess of Sylmar. Out of stakes-placed Storm Dixie, Hip 204 is a half-sister to three winners from four to race overall out of her dam with the group also including stakes-placed Biblical. Storm Dixie is also a half-sister to graded stakes winner Rhythm Band and to the dam of Canadian champion Youcan’tcatchme.

Highly regarded, this Barronstown Stud-bred filly was a $370,000 RNA last November. Her dam was bred back to Justify last year and again in 2021.

Justify sees most of his offerings go through the ring on Monday with his first hip on Tuesday the filly by Screaming Skylar as Hip 187. Both sessions of the sale start at 6:30p.m. ET.
