Thinking Of You Continues American Pharoah’s Top Week
It was another 2-year-old winner for American Pharoah on Friday when Thinking Of You (2f American Pharoah x Fabulous, by Galileo) won on debut at Limerick.
Racing on soft going over 6 ½ furlongs, Thinking Of You broke a step slowly and raced near the back of the pack four wide in the first few furlongs. Wayne Lordan asked his filly for more with 2½ furlongs left to go and she slid to the outside to start picking off rivals. With a furlong left to go, the filly saw the leaders lengthened her stride under urging from her jockey to get up right before the wire.
Pricking her ears as soon as she got to the front, Thinking Of You won by half a length over Pride of Dubai’s Colfer Kay.
Bred by Orpendale, Chelston, and Wynatt and trained by Joseph O’Brien, the Coolmore owned filly is out of the regally bred Fabulous. A Galileo mare, just like the dam of Pista - American Pharaoh’s Group II winner on Thursday, Fabulous is the second to last foal out of bluehen broodmare Mariah’s Storm.
The dam of champion Giant’s Causeway and multiple graded stakes winner and top producer You’resothrilling among eight stakes horses from 11 runners, Mariah’s Storm is also the granddam of champions Gleneagles and Happily, classic winner Marvellous, and Grade I winner Decorated Knight, among others.
Fabulous also has a yearling full sister to Thinking Of You before foaling a Justify filly this year.
As has become the trend for Champion Freshman Sire American Pharoah, this has been another top week with the stallion also having both a Group II winner and a seven figure yearling yesterday.
American Pharoah is on top again in 2020 with 20 stakes horses and 10 stakes winners to lead all second crop sires by graded stakes winners, stakes winners, stakes horses, graded stakes horses, and Grade I horses.
