Tiber Flow Gives Caravaggio 25th Winner
Tiber Flow (2c Caravaggio x Malabar, by Raven’s Pass) impressed on debut Friday in England when he became his sire’s 25th winner from his first crop.
The William Haggas runner was slowly away in the six furlong Newcastle race but that didn’t prove to be much of a problem for the talented juvenile. With Tom Marquand aboard, Tiber Flow was racing strongly approaching the final quarter and was quick to answer Marquand’s cue to switch into another gear.
The colt headed stablemate Pink Crystal in the final furlong and looked like there will be better things ahead as he pulled away by a length to give Haggas the exacta with No Nay Never’s Macchiavello in third.
A homebred for Jon and Julia Aisbitt, Tiber Flow is the first foal out of the Group III winner and multiple Group I fourth Malabar. That mare is a half-sister to champion Poet’s Word and to the am of Group II winner and Group I-placed Beckford.
Malabar is also the dam of Saxon Warrior’s yearling colt Godwinsom.
A leading Northern Hemisphere freshman sire, Caravaggio is the sire of eight stakes performers led by Group I winner Tenebrism and Group II winner Agartha.
