Toplucky Newest Grade 1 Winner For Lookin At Lucky

It was another big weekend for Lookin At Lucky on Saturday when Toplucky (5h Lookin At Lucky x Topisima, by Powerscourt) led home a 1st-3rd finish for the stallion in the Group I Clasico Club Hipico de Santiago in Chile.

Racing over 1¼ miles on turf, Toplucky was always close to the pace close to fellow Lookin At Lucky runner El Bolzon. The pair both started pressuring the leader from both sides in the final four furlongs with Toplucky getting the first run. It was a battle between the Lucky runners coming to the wire with Toplucky having the advantage all the way to the line and El Bolzon getting passed just a few strides before the wire to settle for third.

It was the ninth career victory for Toplucky, who has finished top three in 20 of his 27 starts for Patricio Baeza and owner Quinchao. Bred by Haras Paso Nevado, the horse has won five stakes in his career with 14 top three placings in stakes races.

He is one of two stakes horses by Lookin at Lucky out of four-time winner Topisima. That mare is a half-sister to Chilean Champion 2-Year-old Truly Funny and a full sister to Group II winner Troya, who is the dam of Lookin At Lucky’s stakes winner Tramador with another full sister to the dam of Lookin At Lucky’s Group 2 winner and multiple Group I-placed Tinku.

One of the top value sires in the world, Lookin At Lucky has an outstanding 73 percent winners to runners. Toplucky was one of two stakes winners on the weekend for the stallion with Luck Money winning the Zagora Stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday.
