Toplucky Wins G3 Clasico Invierno
Lookin At Lucky’s successful September continued on Friday when Toplucky (5h Lookin At Lucky x Topisima, by Powerscourt) earned another graded stakes win in the Grade III Clasico Invierno at Club Hipico de Santiago.
Breaking strongly in the 1¼ mile turf race, Toplucky went straight to the front where he galloped comfortably with a few lengths on the field. Rider K. Thorne sat comfortably on his mount, only asking Toplucky for his best in the final stages of the race when another rival made a move and it was all the horse needed to dig in.
Toplucky won by half a length to take his record to two victories in three runs this year. In all, the horse has won seven of his 25 races with 11 on-the-board finishes for trainer Patricio Baeza and owner Quinchao.
The Haras Paso Nevado-homebred is one of two stakes winners for his dam Topisima with his full brother Grade III-placed and fourth in a Grade I. Topisima herself is half-sister to Grade I winner and Champion 2-Year-Old Truly Funny and a full sister to Grade II winner Troya with five stakes winners under Toplucky’s second dam.
Lookin At Lucky is having another strong year with seven stakes winners and 17 stakes horses led by a trio of Grade II winners with two Grade II winners, four stakes horses, and 25 winners in September alone.
