Twilight Blue Determined Winner For Air Force Blue

The fourth winner for his sire in less than a week, Air Force Blue’s stakes-placed Twilight Blue (3c Air Force Blue x Lily The Pink, by Rahy) added a second win to his record on Thursday with an Allowance victory at Oaklawn.

Never farther than two lengths off the leader in the 1 1/16 mile dirt race, he easily handled a fast pace set by Oncoming Train. As they entered the stretch, Twilight Blue angled through a hole and joined in a three-way battle for the lead. In the final sixteenth, Twilight Blue stuck his head in front and pulled away by half a length at the line for owner Carl R. Moore Management.

Trained by Joe Sharp, Twilight Blue has now finished top three in four of his six starts for over $120,000 in earnings.

The Knowles Bloodstock-bred Twilight Blue is the second foal out of the multiple stakes-placed Rahy mare Lily The Pink. That mare is out of stakes-placed Sarie Marais, a half-sister to Grade I winners Cetewayo and Dynaforce, Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Bowman Mill, and Grade I placed Fort Nottingham among nine stakes performers out of her dam.

The sire of four stakes performers, Air Force Blue is tied for third among all second crop sires by number of winners and is a top 10 sire by number of stakes performers among those in his generation.
