Uncle Bud Newest Winner For Uncle Mo
Uncle Bud (3g Uncle Mo x Annis, by Texas Glitter) became the newest winner for Uncle Mo when breaking his maiden at Tampa Bay on Friday.
Breaking sharply in the 5½ furlong dirt race, Uncle Bud pushed the leader every step of the early running. The gelding proved to be too good for that foe and easily took the lead around the turn to lead into the stretch.
His fight wasn’t over yet, however, when he was challenged by the race favorite. Showing he still had more in the tank, when he was eye-to-eye with his rival he found another gear to pull away in the final sixteenth and win by 1¼ lengths for trainer Timothy Hamm.
Making his third start for breeder and co-owner Michael Stinson, the gelding is also owned by Blazing Meadows Farm.
Uncle Bud is a half-brother to stakes winners Worthington and Proceed and stakes-placed Thibodeaux, the dam of stakes placed Evacuee. A half-sister to Listed winning Cinnamon Road, Uncle Bud’s dam Annis is from the family of Champion Ashado and Grade I winner Sunriver.
Uncle Bud is the 37th winner from top sire Uncle Mo’s 3-year-old crop, a crop that includes six stakes horses and two graded stakes winners led by three-time Grade I winner Bast and Grade II Risen Star winner Modernist.
