Uncle Mo Impressive In Turfway Prevue Victory
Scoobie Quando (3c Uncle Mo x Daveron, by Black Sam Bellamy) won on debut in a big way on Saturday with a stakes victory in the Turfway Prevue Stakes.
Registering two bullets at Keeneland in the month before his debut, Scoobie Quando raced in third just a few lengths behind the leader in the 6 ½ furlong race on the Turfway all weather track in the tightly packed field. Jockey Luan Machado started making his move as the field made their way into the far turn and he was neck and neck with the leader as they turned into the stretch.
Showing just a shade of greenness, Scoobie Quando didn’t get past that pacesetter until just before the line to win by a neck for owners Andrew and Rania Warren.
Trained by Ben Colebrook and bred by China Horse Club, Scoobie Quando is the third stakes winner out of the multiple graded stakes winner Daveron. That mare is also the dam of multiple graded stakes winner March to the Arch and Canadian champion Global Access. This family also includes Grade I Kentucky Derby winner and Grade I Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom.
Daveron also had an Uncle Mo colt in 2021.
Scoobie Quando is the 87th Northern Hemisphere born stakes winner for Uncle Mo with that group also including 151 stakes performers.
