Uncle Mo Paddock Shot

Uncle Mo Son Much the Best at Laurel

It was an impressive performance for Uncle Jake (3c Uncle Mo x Tasha’s Miracle, by Harlan’s Holiday) in Laurel Park Maiden Special Weight on Friday with a 9 ½ length victory.

Going off as the heavy favorite in the one-mile dirt race, he raced outside a pacesetter early on before taking command as they raced into the turn. Jockey Jevian Toledo let Uncle Jake coast until they hit the stretch. As soon as he gave the cue, any hope the others had of catching the leader was crossed with Uncle Jake romping away from the second place horse and the rest of the field over 17 lengths behind.

Trained by Brittany Russell, Uncle Jake was making his second start for SF Racing, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Robert Masterson, Stonestreet Stable, Jay Schoenfarber, Waves Edge Capital, and Catherine Donovan.

A $675,000 Keeneland September yearling, Uncle Jake is one of three winners from four to race out of multiple Grade III winner Tasha’s Miracle. That mare is a half-sister to the Grade II placed Deb’s Charm, herself the dam of two stakes winners. Also under the colt’s second dam are Grade I winner Off The Tracks and Grade II winner Concord Point among others.

Uncle Jake is one of a large group of exciting juveniles for his sire with the group stakes winners Arabian Knight, Scoobie Quando, Gulfport, and Dude N Colorado.
