Uncle Mo’s Keeneland September Book 2 Led By $800,000 Colt
Book 2 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale was another successful one for Uncle Mo, led by a $800,000 colt.
Offered by Lane’s End on behalf of Summer Wind Equine, the colt was signed for by Mike Ryan as agent. He is a half-brother to two winners from three to race out of the stakes winning Galileo mare Key to My Heart, who is one of seven stakes winners named on the page. One of those is her own Grade I-winning dam A Z Warrior, who produced Justify’s stakes winner Justa Warrior as well as Key to My Heart and her stakes placed full brother Cole Porter.
A Z Warrior is one of four stakes winners out of the multiple stakes placed Carson Jen, who also produced Grade II winner Jojo Warrior and Grade III winner and Grade I-placed E Z Warrior.
Donato Lanni purchased a $775,000 Uncle Mo colt on behalf of SF/Starlight/Madaket during the third session from Wood’s Edge Farm.
This colt is the third foal out of the Grade III-placed Sundaysatthebeach, who has already gotten her broodmare career off to a successful start. That mare’s first foal to race is Grade III Penn Mile winner First World War, who also won the Grade III Kitten’s Joy. It’s no surprise the mare is a successful broodmare with her dam the dual Grade I winner Ask The Moon, who has also produced four-time stakes winner Belgrano.
Each of this colt’s four dams on the page have produced at least one stakes winner with three of them being stakes performers themselves.
A $675,000 purchase by Flying Dutchmen was the most expensive Uncle Mo filly of the book during the third session. Consigned by Upson Downs Farm, she comes from a page full of blacktype.
The filly is the first foal out of the stakes winner and Grade III-placed Inject, who is one of three stakes winners out of Grade I winner Appealing Zophie. Appealing Zophie’s most successful runner was Grade I Belmont Stakes winner Tapwrit, though she is also the dam of multiple graded stakes winner and Grade I-placed Ride A Comet as well.
Appealing Zophie’s daughters have already proven to have producing talent. One daughter is the dam of dual stakes winner Kenai Bob and another produced two stakes performers as well.
Uncle Mo’s Book 2 offerings also brought $575,000, $510,000, $385,000, etc. with a $416,364 average and $385,000 median over the two sessions.
