Uncle Mo’s Mo Dont Know Wins Second Cardinal Handicap
Leading sire Uncle Mo’s hard-knocking son Mo Dont Know (6g Uncle Mo x Lilah, by Defrere) won his sixth career stakes race in his 40th start on Saturday when taking out the Cardinal Handicap for the second time in three years.
Mo Dont Know was in midpack early in the six furlong race at Mahoning Valley with a perfect trip on the rail under jockey Scott Spieth. As the field raced down the stretch in the final furlong, Mo Don’t Know slid up the rail to take the lead and pull away. The 3½ length victory took Mo Don’t Know to $983,020 in earnings with 19 victories and 12 other top three placings in his 40-start career.
Bred by Beechwood Racing Stable, the gelding is trained by Jeffrey Radosevich for Ron Paolucci Racing and is a half-brother to two other stakes horses, including Listed winning Takechargedelilah. His half-brother Big Blue Nation was placed in the Grade I Hopeful Stakes while another half-sister is the dam of two stakes winners.
Mo Dont Know is one of 52 stakes winners for Uncle Mo, who has sired seven Grade I winners including a Kentucky Derby winner in his first crop.
