Uncle Mo’s Yaupon Continues Winning Ways at Saratoga
Yaupon (3c Uncle Mo x Modification, by Vindication) took his record to two-from two on Saturday with an impressive run in a Saratoga Allowance.
Racing over six furlongs on Saratoga’s main track, Yaupon went straight to the lead as the favorite where he was pressured throughout the run by a rival as they dueled over five lengths ahead of the rest of the field. Yaupon proved to have plenty left after fast fractions throughout the race as he pulled away from his dueling partner to win by 3¾ lengths in the end.
Trained by Steve Asmussen for William and Corinne Heiligbrodt, Yaupon started his career with a win at Churchill Downs last month.
Bred by Betz, Lamantia, CoCo Equine, and Magners & Burns, Yaupon is a half-brother to dual Grade II runner-up Sawyer’s Hill and out of Grade I Humana Distaff third Modification. One of four stakes horses for her own Listed winning dam Swift Alliance, Modification’s half-sisters have also produced four stakes horses between them including Grade III winning Sky Mom.
One of three winners from three Uncle Mo runners out of Vindication mares, Yaupon is bred on the same cross as Uncle Mo’s Listed winner Absolutely Stylish.
