Well-Bred Juveniles Represent Classic Empire at Fasig-Tipton
Only a little over a week after siring his first winner, Classic Empire has 12 2-year-olds set to visit the ring at Fasig-Tipton’s Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale.
One of two to breeze in :10.1 for Classic Empire is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Newly Minted and stakes-placed New Girl In Town. Named Classy Edition, the New York-bred filly is offered by Sequel Bloodstock on behalf of Chester and Mary Broman.
Out of a Bernardini mare, Classy Edition is bred on the same cross that produced Pioneerof the Nile’s Grade III winner Dark Nile and stakes winner Princessof the Nyl. There are stakes winners under three of the filly’s first four dams with the only mare not to have produced a stakes winner being a stakes winner herself.
Sequel Bloodstock also offers Hip 210, another :10.1 breezer for Classic Empire. The chestnut colt is out of a half-sister to Grade II-placed Saint Bernadette, who is the dam of Grade I Preakness third Social Inclusion and stakes-placed Road to Damascus.
Pioneerof the Nile sons bred to Congrats mares have produced four winners from five to race, led by American Pharoah’s stakes placed Man Friday.
Out of the Grade III-placed Tristanme is Hip 257 from Harris Training Center. A $115,000 weanling purchase, the filly was bred by Mt. Sackville Bloodstock in New York. Her dam is one of four stakes horses for Forever Full, who also produced stakes winners Regiment and Eternal Cup with the fourth stakes performer also a stakes producer.
Forever Full is also a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Alcovy, who is also the granddam of a stakes performer. Tristanme is the dam of three winners from five to race, including 11-time winner Tryst Cat.
A half-sister to Grade I winner Lady Ivanka, Hip 549 sees stakes winners under all three dams on the page. Consigned by Cary Frommer, the filly is out of a half-sister to four stakes winners, led by multiple stakes winners and Grade I-placed Jet West and Jetin Excess. Her dam’s multiple stakes winning half-sister Jetinto Houston is also the dam of stakes winner Exchange Funds.
In addition to Lady Ivanka, Lady Leftennant has also produced six-time winner Okie West and four-time winner Showtime Sis.
Hip 319 was Classic Empire’s sole offering to breeze a quarter, covering the distance in :22.2. The filly is a half-sister to multiple stakes placed Attachment Rate, who finished third in the Grade III Commonwealth Cup in April. Three of the Bobby Dodd-offered filly’s half-siblings have seen updates since the catalog was released.
Bred in New York by Sequel Stallions and Lakland Farm, the filly’s granddam is successful broodmare Sunset Service. That mare is the granddam of Grade I winners Hymn Book and Data Link and the third dam of champion Caledonia Road and recent blacktype earner Officiating.
Others on offer by Classic Empire included Hartley/de Renzo Thoroughbreds’ Hip 512, from the family of Grade I Kentucky Oaks winner Summerly; Hip 274 from De Meric Sales, a half-sister to a Grade III-placed runner and out of a stakes winning dam; and Hemingway Racing and Training’s Hip 393, the second foal out of stakes winner C’Mon Feet.
