Wells Bayou Impressive Winner for Lookin At Lucky
It was another impressive 2-year-old winner for Lookin At Lucky at Keeneland on Saturday when Wells Bayou (2c Lookin At Lucky x Whispering Angel, by Hard Spun) won on debut for owner Lance Gasaway.
Running over six furlongs, the Brad Cox trained colt quickly took the lead out of the gate on the sloppy track and controlled the race. When he was confronted by the field at the top of the stretch, he turned back all rivals and won by 2¼ lengths as the race favorite.
Bred by Knowles Bloodstock, Wells Bayou was bought by his racing owner from Whitman Sales for $105,000 at this year’s OBS March Sale Of 2-Year-Olds in Training sale. A winner herself, his dam Whispering Angel is a half-sister to stakes placed Mambo Negra and hails from the family of Champions Big Brown and Hidden Lake.
The sire of Kentucky Derby winner Country House and last year’s Champion Older Male Accelerate, Lookin At Lucky’s 2-year-old runners include stakes placed As Seen On Tv.
