$1.3million Justify Colt to Waller Racing
Triple Crown hero Justify has established himself as one of the best young sires in the world and he finished the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale with a flourish as his last colt through the ring on Monday sold for $1.3million.
Consigned by Coolmore the dashing chestnut was a real eye-catcher as is his sire and he cut an impressive figure in the sale ring before being knocked down to Chris Waller Racing/ Mulcaster Bloodstock.
He was offered on behalf of Morning Rise Stud, who bred and sold outstanding Justify juvenile colt Storm Boy, and he is the second living foal of well related stakes-placed Stravinsky (USA) mare Crystal Fountain (NZ).
Crystal Fountain is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Champion 3YO Filly Serenade Rose, a triple Group I winner and the family also features dual Group I winning sprinter Trekking.
“He’s a great colt by a great sire and we have plenty of stable clients to go in him,” said Guy Mulcaster.
Crystal Fountain is now in foal again to Justify, who had eight yearlings sell at an average $629,375.
He had other big sales with colts from Stockton Abbey and Arcadia Angel fetching $900,000 for Sledmere Stud and Torryburn Stud respectively.
Super popular during inspections the strapping bay from Stockton Abbey has the sort of power and presence of Justify’s outstanding juvenile colt Storm Boy and was duly snapped up by the China Horse Club / Newgate / Go Bloodstock / Trilogy.
Bred by Rifa Mustang, the colt from Stockton Abbey is the fourth foal of unraced Stratum mare Stockton Abbey, a full sister to fast stakes-winning juvenile Darlington Abbey.
Royston and Treen Murphy of Sledmere Stud were over the moon with the sale.
“He had over 240 parades for the week which is a huge number, but he was one of those horses that everyone that walked past him wanted to see him,” said Royston Murphy.
“He’s a good colt by a great stallion and we always thought Inglis Easter was the place for him.”
The colt from Arcadia Angel was bought by B and J Racing and was bred by Graham and Linda Huddy of Peachester Lodge, who were delighted with the result.
He is the first foal of young Pierro mare Arcadia Angel, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group I winners Arcadia Queen and Regal Power.
“He was a great colt for a first foal and was well placed at Inglis Easter,” said Linda Huddy.
“The mare is back in foal to Justify and has a lovely colt by Home Affairs.”
