$1million for Wootton Bassett Filly
The Element Hill Dispersal at the Magic Millions National Sale features some intriguing horses but none more so than the yearling-half-sister by Wootton Bassett to champion racehorse Golden Sixty and she duly attracted plenty of attention on Tuesday before selling for $1million.
Entered originally for the Magic Millions Yearling Sale back in January, she was withdrawn from that engagement and the subsequent time to develop further has allowed her to grow into a glorious filly with US based buyer Mt Brilliant Farm the winning bidder.
“We came out to specifically look at some of these race mares and it led to Gai [Waterhouse] to convince us to buy a yearling at a broodmare sale,” Mt Brilliant Farm’s Hutton Goodman said.
“But we loved the filly, she’s got a beautiful pedigree and Wootton Bassett couldn’t be any better, so we’re thrilled.”
The star filly is the 11th foal of outstanding producer Gaudeamus (USA), an imported Group II winner that has had six winners from eight to race with world champion miler and three time Hong Kong Horse of the Year Golden Sixty the best of them followed by Group III placed Rainbow Connection and stakes-placed Igitur.
Gaudeamus is also a part of the Element Hill Dispersal and will be offered as Lot 761 and is in foal to hot young sire Home Affairs.
Wootton Bassett yearlings have been in hot demand in Australasia this year and this filly is his fourth to sell for $1million or more joining the $2.1million filly from Avantage, the $1.6million colt from Fiera Vista and the $1.4million colt from Sunlight.
