Justify Colt Sells for $750,000 at Keeneland September

It was another successful book for Justify at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale on Wednesday and Thursday, led by a $750,000 colt.

Sold by ELiTE as Agent for WinStar Farm, the colt purchased by Donato Lanni on behalf of SF/Starlight/Madaket had two stakes updates after the catalog was released. Those updates came courtesy of his dam’s stakes winning half-sister Cat Five’ O.

That Pleasantly Perfect mare saw her son Tut’s Revenge add a third stakes win to his record in the Kentucky Downs Preview Mint Millions Turf Mile. Her 3-year-old also became her second stakes performer when he placed second in the Grade III Canadian Derby. The yearling is out of the stakes winning Kram, whose first runner is a placed juvenile.

Kram is also a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Net Gain and out of the Elusive Quality mare Triple O’Five. A daughter of Grade I winner Stormy Pick, Triple O’Five is also a half-sister to the stakes placed duo of Stormandaprayer and Dothraki.

“He’s a beautiful colt, raised by WinStar,” said SF’s Tom Ryan. “We all watched Justify grow up at WinStar, and it’s lovely to see them produce such quality animals by what looks to be an amazing stallion. We’ll put him in the program with Bob Baffert and hopefully he has a bright future.”

The partnership that bought this colt also bought $450,000 and $425,000 colts while Alex and JoAnn Lieblong purchased a $450,000 Justify filly to round out the top Justify offerings during this book.
