Justify Filly Wins at Flemington
A stakes-winner at two, talented filly Legacies (3f Justify x Abyssine, by Danehill Dancer) found her best form at Flemington on Saturday with a stylish win in the open fillies event over 1400m with a return to stakes company likely in the near future.
Trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, Legacies was a touch disappointing in the spring, but looked to be back to her best when enjoying a nice run in transit for Blake Shinn before hitting the line hard to win by half a length at her second run back from a spell.
A homebred for Rosemont Stud, Legacies is already a valuable filly with more wins in store.
“Rosemont of have been massive supporters of ours and she’s a filly that showed a lot early days, but didn’t really come up last prep, so it’s very rewarding to get that win today,” said Katherine Coleman.
“It was a beautiful ride from Blake and he gave her every chance.
“We’re not sure yet what her best trip will be or how far we will stretch her out, but she’s definitely got a nice race in her.”
Legacies has won three of seven starts earning over $300,000 in prizemoney and is the best of four winners from Abyssinie (IRE), a blue-blood three-quarter sister by Danehill Dancer to multiple Group I winners Artiste Royale and Aquarelliste from an elite European family packed with Black Type.
Abyssinie was subsequently on-sold by Rosemont Stud and was covered last spring again by Justify.
