Justify Yearlings Sell to $800,000

Demand for the progeny of Triple Crown hero Justify was strong at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Sunday with fillies from Marianne (NZ) and Luminous Eyes (IRE) selling for $800,000 and $550,000 with his first day average settling at $427,500.

Coolmore offered the half-sister to Group II winner Yaletown from stakes-winning Darci Brahma mare Marianne on behalf of Morning Rise Stud, who also bred and sold outstanding 2YO Justify colt Storm Boy.

The stylish chestnut was knocked down to Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou for $800,000 and they have already had success with Justify producing his two year-old colt Just Party to win at the metro meeting at Wyong last month at his second start with stakes goals on the horizon.

Providing a great result for Willow Park Stud was the half-sister to Group II winner Lumosty from imported Irish Group III winner Luminous Eyes that held international appeal and was secured by Watership Down Stud/ McKeever Bloodstock for $550,000.

Lord and Lady Andrew Lloyd Webber of Watership Down Stud were active in Australia last year purchasing a couple of yearlings by their former superstar Too Darn Hot and have expanded their interest in Australian racing with this purchase.

Luminous Eyes was on-sold by Coolmore at the 2022 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale for $52,000 to Gary Mudgway Bloodstock in foal to Justify with this lovely filly the result of the mating.

Justify has four more yearlings to be offered on Monday.
