State Of Joy (Starspangledbanner) Wins Her Maiden At Down Royal

Starspangledbanner Juvenile Scores On Second Start

State Of Joy (2f Starspangledbanner – Divine Authority, by Holy Roman Emperor) justified strong market support on her second start in Monday’s fillies’ maiden at Down Royal.

Dylan Browne McMonagle positioned the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly in midfield and pushed the bay along two furlongs from home. Racing wide on the turn for home, she was ridden to challenge inside the final furlong and ran on to lead on the line.

“She came on a lot from her first run,” stable representative Sean Corby commented. “She's a big filly and the run just brought her forward. You would imagine there should hopefully be another little bit of improvement.”

The promising daughter of Starspangledbanner is owned by Syndicates Racing and was bred by James Hanly.
