£250,000 Flemensfirth bumper winner tops Cheltenham Sale
On Blueberry Hill (4g Flemensfirth-Mrs Malt, by Presenting) was the star turn at Brightwells’ Cheltenham April Sale on Wednesday night when selling for £250,000 to join champion trainer Paul Nicholls.
The four-year-old beat 16 rivals to win the €100,000 Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper at Fairyhouse on April 2 for trainer Timmy Hyde and was sold at Cheltenham to agent Aiden Murphy.
“He’s going to race for a syndicate at Paul Nicholls’ yard. His form at Fairyhouse made him the nicest horse in the sale – it was the strongest form on offer and he comes from a very good home,” Murphy told EBN.
Hyde added: “My son, Tim, bought him at Tattersalls Ireland’s Derby Sale last year for €55,000. From day one he showed us he had a lot of ability, and he did everything very easily.
“I didn’t buy him with a view to coming here, but after he won at Fairyhouse the timing was right.”
On Blueberry Hill was bred by Richard Robinson and is out of a full-sister to the high-class hurdler Cockney Trucker.
Another popular Flemensfirth was point-to-point winner Flemenson (4g Flemensfirth-Andrea Cova, by Strong Gale), who was sold for £190,000 to trainer Jonjo O’Neill. The four-year-old scored impressively at Inch on March 27 for owner Michael Ahern.
