Back To Back Cheltenham Grade 1’s For Son Of Yeats
Flooring Porter (7g Yeats - Lillymile, by Revoque) produced a superb front-running performance to land back-to-back runnings of the Grade 1 Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Gavin Cromwell’s charge was never headed in the three mile test and was pushed out on the run-in to score by two lengths and three quarters under Danny Mullins.
“That was magical,” the winning trainer said after the race. “Flooring Porter is a freak of a horse. What a ride. It was just brilliant.”
Thursday marked a third Grade 1 success overall for Flooring Porter, who was bred by Sean Murphy. The bay was one of four winners by Yeats at last year’s Cheltenham Festival.
