Back To Back Wins For Daughter Of Yeats
Straight Home (6m Yeats - On The Way Home, by Flemensfirth) followed up her recent maiden win with a smart performance in the mares’ point-to-point flat race at Cork.
Owned and trained by Timothy Townend, the daughter of Yeats ran out a five length winner on her second start at Kildorrery in February and was reunited with Jody Townend on Easter Monday. Held up in the early stages, she improved from halfway and chased the clear leader with three furlongs left to race. Running on well to lead approaching the final furlong, she soon drew clear and led by five and a half lengths on the line. Lucky Viv (Yeats) completed a 1-2 for their Castlehyde Stud sire.
“Straight Home is a decent mare,” the winning rider later commented. “She was originally bought to breed from and Dad will hope to lease her maybe to Willie (Mullins), with the hope of eventually breeding from her.”
Straight Home was bred by Rosemary Hutch out of a full-sister to Grade 1 chaser Rock On The Moor (Flemensfirth).
