Big Dreams For Unbeaten Son Of Getaway
Saturday saw £210,000 buy Weveallbeencaught (5g Getaway - Curvacious, by Anshan) make a winning rules debut for Nigel Twiston-Davies in the bumper at Newbury.
A smart debut winner of a four-year-old maiden at Dromahane for Michael Kennedy, the bay was sent off second favourite on his first run for owners Jimmy and Susie Wenman, and Edward and Jane James. Tracking the leaders for much of the way, he was pushed along to make headway from over three furlongs out and led approaching the two furlong pole. Soon ridden, he stayed on well to deny the favourite Collectors Item (Flemensfirth) by half a length on the line.
“We've got a good one, long term,” Twiston-Davies commented after the race. “We'll go and win another bumper with Weveallbeencaught and then put him away hurdling next season. A horse his size isn't going to win an Aintree bumper and he's a three-mile chaser. We bought him as a Gold Cup horse and that's what we're going for. He's very similar to Imperial Commander.”
Bred by Conor Murphy, the son of Getaway hails from the family of Kylemore Lough.
