Bigger And Better Things Ahead Of Walk In The Park Mare
Jockey Shane Shorthall hopes Gipsy Lee Rose (5m Walk In The Park - Vanoo D’Orthe, by Valanour) can “go on to bigger and better things,” after winning the Mares Maiden Hurdle at Limerick on Thursday.
Sent to the lead, the Joseph O’Brien-trained favourite was soon three lengths clear and though briefly joined by a rival approaching the halfway point, was never headed. Pushed out in the closing stages, she held off Dolly Dancer (Yeats) by two lengths on the line.
Second on her hurdle debut in February, Gipsy Lee Rose won a Dromahane maiden by six lengths last May. Bred by E.A.R.L. Arnaud Vasselin, she was bought by owner Alan Harte for €45,000 at the Goffs Land Rover Sale.
