Black-Type Getaway Mare Impresses Over Fences
Talented hurdler Lust For Glory (8m Getaway - Maisie Presenting, by Presenting) registered her first chase success on Tuesday when running out a comfortable winner of the Mares’ Novices’ Chase at Wetherby.
A debut winner of her point-to-point and Listed-placed over hurdles, the Nicky Henderson-trained mare finished fourth on both her starts over fences and was sent off favourite to make it third time lucky. She tracked the leaders under Sam Waley-Cohen, leading from six out and was asked to quicken from two out. Soon clear, she was ridden out on the run-in to score by seven and a half lengths.
Owned by Annabel Waley-Cohen and family, Lust For Glory was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock for £235,000 after achieving black-type over hurdles. The daughter of Grange Stud sire Getaway was bred by Robert Merrigan out of an unraced half-sister to Grade 3 winner Theatre Bird.
