Black-Type Getaway Mare Off The Mark Over Hurdles
Black-type performer Dontyawantme (7m Getaway – Glory Queen, by Taipan) ran out a game winner of the mares’ novices’ hurdle at Carlisle on Monday.
The daughter of Getaway made a winning debut as a four-year-old for Denis Murphy and went on to win a bumper and place at Listed level last season. A promising fourth on her hurdle debut, she was last seen finishing a close second and remained over two miles and three furlongs on Monday.
Ridden prominently by Jamie Hamilton, she improved to lead at the second last and began to rally clear with the favourite approaching the final flight. Digging deep on the run-in, she denied black-type hurdler Lunar Discovery by a neck on the line, with the pair finishing 16 lengths clear of the remainder.
Dontyawantme is owned by trainer Craig Lidster with Paul Sutherland and Alfa Site Serv. The progressive mare was bred by Maurice O’Brien.
