Black-Type Targets For Soldier Of Fortune Mare
Racing over a furlong further saw the Willie Mullins-trained Pont Aval (6m Soldier Of Fortune - Panzella, by Kahyasi) gain a maiden win in Friday’s bumper at Ballinrobe.
Placed on all her previous starts, the bay was once again ridden by Patrick Mullins, who positioned his mount mid-field of 16. Encouraged to make headway on the outside approaching the three furlong pole, she led on the turn for home and soon went clear. Running on well, she scored by five lengths.
The winning trainer later commented, "We'll probably go for a winners' bumper and she might go for the Listed Mares' Bumper at Punchestown. I think she's entitled to go for that now.”
Owned by N.G. King, Pont Aval was bred by M. Paul Hilger and is a full-sister to the Listed performer Ponte Fortune.
