Black-type win for Flemensfirth
The Emma Lavelle-trained Mosspark (6g Flemensfirth-Patio Rose, by Petoski) maintained his unbeaten record under Rules when winning the Sidney Banks Memorial Novices’ Hurdle at Huntingdon on Thursday.
The Listed contest has proved a good stepping stone to bigger things in past years and connections believe Mosspark has a bright future.
“We knew the track wasn't great and that the ground wasn't right, but if we wanted to go to Cheltenham, we had to get another run into him,” Barry Fenton, Lavelle's partner, told PA Sport.
“I'm not saying he's definitely going to go to Cheltenham. For me, he's a horse for the future. He's a future three-mile chaser. He's backward, there's no two ways about it. But he's run three times and not been beaten so it's hard to say he shouldn't go to the Cheltenham.”
Mosspark, who was bred by Anthea Smyth, is a former Irish point-to-pointer who cost £50,000 when sold at Cheltenham in December 2012.
