Mirazur West (Westerner) Wins The Bumper At Naas

Brother To Ferny Hollow Eases Clear On Rules Debut

The future looks bright for Mirazur West (5g Westerner - Mirazur, by Good Thyne), after the well-related son of Westerner made a smart start for Willie Mullins in Thursday’s bumper at Naas.

The full-brother to Ferny Hollow (Westerner) looked the likely winner when falling at the last at Dromahane, in what was his sole start for Ellmarie Holden, and donned the colours of JP McManus for his rules debut.

Ridden to make all by Derek O’Connor, he was full of running two furlongs from home, as his challengers came under pressure. Easing clear, he justified favouritism by four and a half lengths.

Representing the winning yard, David Casey said, “He's a lovely horse and had been working well. He's a beautiful stamp of a horse and did everything right.”

Mirazur West was bred by Kenneth Parkhill, whose Castletown Quarry Stud sold him for €160,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.
