Bumper Win A Walk In The Park For Future Chaser Ginto

Pricey point-to-point purchase Ginto (5g Walk In The Park - Tina Rederie, by Cadoudal) offered another glimpse of what’s to come when running out an impressive winner of Sunday’s bumper at Navan.

The son of Walk In The Park sold to Noel and Valerie Moran’s Bective Stud for €470,000 after a 12-length debut victory at Tattersalls and went on to finish second on his rules debut in early January. The bay was sent off favourite under Jamie Codd once again at the weekend and raced prominently throughout the two mile contest. Quickening on the turn for home, Ginto led after the three furlong marker and stayed on well inside the final furlong to score by eight lengths.

Sunday’s win was a bonus according to Gordon Elliott, who later explained that Ginto will be seen to best effect over fences. “Ginto is a big chaser and that's what he was bought to be - he's a horse for the future,” explained Elliott. “He really wants a jump, he's not really a bumper horse. Jamie's done all the schooling with him and says he'll be a different horse when he gets a jump.”

Bred by S Berger, Ginto hails from the final French crop of Walk In The Park, who now stands at Grange Stud.
