Sevenna’s Knight (Camelot) Wins The Group 3 Prix De Barbeville

Camelot Colt Proves A Class Above In Longchamp Group 3

Sevenna’s Knight (4c Camelot – Sevenna, by Galileo) could not have been more impressive when drawing clear in the Group 3 Prix de Barbeville at Longchamp on Sunday.

Ridden prominently by Mickael Barzalona, Andre Fabre’s charge was shaken up to lead before the two furlong pole and began to draw clear a furlong later. He was eased down close home to win by all of eight lengths, with another three parts of a length back to the Group 1 winning favourite Double Major in third.

The son of Camelot was purchased privately by OTI Racing last season and immediately repaid their faith with a Listed win. Part-owner Frank Dheeghe later said of their winner, “Mr Fabre always said we had to be patient with this horse, that he was immature and needed time. What he did today we thought he could do it one day. The program will be built towards a start in the Melbourne Cup. That is the long-term target, whether it is this year or next.”

Sevenna’s Knight was bred by Gestut Ammerland, who raced the bay to win his maiden. The progressive son of Camelot is a half-brother to Group winner Savanne (Rock Of Gibraltar).
