Classic Empire’s Into Classic Wins Debutante

Classic Empire’s 3-year-old daughter Into Classic (3f Classic Empire x Mischievous Misty, by Into Mischief) was an authoritative winner of the Debutante Stakes on Sunday with a 5 ¼ length victory.

Racing in midpack for much of the six-furlong dirt race at Arapahoe Park, the filly started rolling into the turn. By the time they hit the stretch, Into Classic was three wide and took command shortly after to start building a margin. At the line, the second-place runner was 5 ¼ lengths back and the third placed runner was eight behind.

It was the third win for Into Classic, who is trained by Stetson Mitchell for Barry Koch. The filly was bred in Kentucky by Tolo Thoroughbreds and Scott Davidson.

The filly is out of the stakes-placed Mischievous Misty, who is one of two stakes performers for champion Kona Gold’s half-sister Kona Kat. Kona Kat also produced the stakes-placed Kool Kat and the dam of the stakes winning Hieroglyphics.

A champion at two and Grade I winner at three, Classic Empire is a top three sire in every cumulative stakes category among second-crop sires while also sitting fifth among his peers by earnings.
