Law Ella (Yeats) Wins The Mares Beginners Chase At Thurles

Classy Daughter of Yeats Impresses On Chase Debut

Black-type performer Law Ella (6m Yeats - Brogarais, by Presenting) made a smart start over fences when drawing clear to win the Mares Beginners Chase at Thurles on Thursday.

The Gavin Cromwell-trained mare impressed in a bumper on debut, before finishing second to Ashroe Diamond (Walk In The Park) in a Grade 2 at Aintree. Successful over hurdles last season, she was sent off favourite on her seasonal return and raced in midfield for much of the way under Keith Donoghue. Improving into second from four out, she eased into the lead before the final fence and ran on well to score by six lengths.

“Law Ella has plenty of size and scope,” Cromwell said after the race. “It didn't quite happen for her over hurdles but she looks a better chaser already. I love the way she jumped.”

The daughter of Yeats is owned by breeder Thomas Ward.
