Consistent Son Of Yeats Impresses On Chase Debut
Mortlach (7g Yeats - Belle Brook, by Alderbook) followed up last month’s maiden hurdle success with an impressive chase debut at Huntingdon on Tuesday.
Fergal O’Brien’s charge was sent off favourite for the two mile chase and made most of the running under Paddy Brennan. Boasting a clear advantage at the second last, he was eased close home and led by nine lengths on the line.
Mortlach has been remarkably consistent both between the flags and under rules, having won or been placed on all but one of his starts. Owned by Doug Pocock, the son of Yeats was bred by RT Crellin.
