Milan Gelding Sells For €180000 At Tatts Ireland

Coolmore NH Sires Reward Consignors With Six Figure Sums

A son of Milan (Lot 57) brought an impressive pinhooking result for Roxborough Stud when selling to Mags O’Toole for €180,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.

Bought by Roxborough’s Barry Fitzgerald for €26,000 as a foal, the bay brought an opening bid of €100,000. O’Toole was delighted to secure him, commenting, “I've been thinking about this horse for two days. I thought he was the nicest horse I've seen on the sales ground and didn't think I'd be able to buy him so I'm thrilled to have got him.”

Lot 46 was another brilliant pinhook, with the son of Flemensfirth who cost €32,000 as a foal selling to Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls for €150,000. Consigned by Peel Hall Stables, he is the first foal out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Empire Of Dirt (Westerner). Malone later commented on his purchase, “I thought he was a star and he has the pedigree to be one, he was an easy horse to fall in love with.”

Lot 27 from Churchview Stables, a full-brother to Douvan (Walk In The Park), provided early excitement in the sales ring when selling for €140,000 to Michael Shefflin and Paul Holden, with the latter’s sister Ellmarie due to take charge of the bay.

After signing the docket, Shefflin said, “He's a full-brother to a fabulous horse. I liked him to look at, you'll find fault in any horse but he was well able to walk and he's a fine big, strong horse. I like the sire too, he's got a great strike-rate and his foals have sold very well recently, Coolmore are really supporting him.”
