Crystal Ocean is Co-Longines World's Best Racehorse for 2019
Crystal Ocean was crowned the 2019 Co-Longines World's Best Racehorse at an awards ceremony in London today. Never out of the first three in 17 starts, Crystal Ocean recorded his greatest success when defeating Magical and Waldgeist in the Group 1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot last June (see below). It was on his next start however, again at Ascot in the ‘King George’, when he was deemed to earn his highest mark of 128. In a thrilling finish that day he was beaten a neck by Enable despite conceding her 3lbs with subsequent ‘Arc’ winner Waldgeist a further 1¾ lengths back in third.
Trained by Sir Michael Stoute for owner/breeder Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, Crystal Ocean is now standing at the Beeches Stud where he becomes the highest-rated horse ever to retire straight to National Hunt stud.
