Daughter Of Westerner Gains Compensation At Monksgrange

Kate of The Lodge (5m Westerner – Aunt Eva, by Ask) carried owner/breeder Brian Kenny’s colours to a smart win in Sunday’s mares’ maiden at Monksgrange.

The Colin Bowe-trained mare looked to have every chance on debut a fortnight earlier, when she was hampered and unseated after the second last. That effort saw her sent off favourite on her second start, with Rob James taking the ride and producing her to lead before the second last. She kept on well to win by 16 lengths with ease.
