Daughter Of Yeats Battles Back For Listed Prize

Lilting Verse (5m Yeats - Sorcillera, by Anzillero) produced a game performance to win the Listed Henrietta Knight Mares’ Bumper at Huntingdon on Sunday.

Placed on both her starts between the flags for Donal Hassett, the daughter of Yeats finished a promising third on rules debut for Fergal O’Brien and appeared to appreciate Sunday’s prominent tactics. Leading from four out under Connor Brace, she was joined by the favourite a furlong later and was ridden from two furlongs out. The pair could not be split until Lilting Verse asserted inside the final furlong and was ridden out to score by half a length.

Owned by Baker, Burford, Haynes and Plumb, Lilting Verse was bred by Gregg Stafford out of a half-sister to Commanche Court.
