Mount Ida (Yeats) Wins The Grade 3 Mares Novice Chase At Cork

Daughter Of Yeats Excels In Grade 3 Chase

The future looks bright for Mount Ida (6m Yeats - Jolivia, by Dernier Empereur) over fences, after Gordon Elliott’s charge took the Grade 3 Kerry Group Mares Novice Chase at Cork on Sunday.

Listed-placed over hurdles, the KTDA Racing-owned bay finished a promising third on her chase debut last month and was sent off favourite as she stepped up in class over the same course and distance. She tracked the leaders under Denis O’Regan, making headway to dispute from four out and was ridden to lead from the final fence. Running on strongly, she scored by four and a half lengths and reversed earlier form with runner-up Scarlet And Dove.

Mount Ida’s black-type victory adds to earlier success over hurdles and in a bumper, as well as winning a four-year-old point-to-point maiden for Jerry Cosgrave. Bred by Philip Hore, she is a full-sister to four-time winner Bargy Lady (Yeats) and a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Sizing Tennessee.
