Daughter Of Yeats Goes One Better In Bumper
The improving Country Queen (5m Yeats - Fruits De Mer, by Presenting) led home a 1-2 for Coolmore NH sires in Saturday’s bumper at Bellewstown.
The Gordon Elliott-trained bay finished second on last month’s bumper debut behind the more experienced Walk In The Brise (Walk In The Park) and faced another well-supported Willie Mullins representative on her latest start, in the shape of previous winner Uncle Phil (Walk In The Park).
Held up in midfield by Harry Swan, she was pushed along from three furlongs out and kept on well under pressure approaching the two furlong market. Leading a furlong later, she kept on strongly to score by three lengths, as the aforementioned favourite claimed runners-up honours.
Country Queen is owned by the Keep Smiling Syndicate and was bred by Michael Byrne out of a full-sister to Thyestes Chase victor My Murphy.
