Daughters Of Yeats Keep Yard In Flying Form

Fruit Blossom (7m Yeats - Fruits De Mer, by Presenting) made a quick return to justify favouritism in the Mares’ Beginners Chase at Tramore on Sunday.

The Gordon Elliott-trained mare gained her second win over hurdles just a week earlier and was partnered by Jack Kennedy on her second start over fences. Travelling strongly throughout, she led from the third last and began to draw clear from the next, going on to score by four and a quarter lengths.

Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Ian Amond said, “She won easy and, looking at it, you'd imagine there will be more wins in her. She'll be kept going when she is in this kind of form, and she could even go back over hurdles.”

The daughter of Yeats became breeder Michael Byrne’s second winner of the Tramore Festival, as her sister and stablemate Sea Aster (5m Yeats - Fruits De Mer, by Presenting) got off the mark in the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle on Friday.

Sent off favourite under Jack Kennedy, the bay raced in touch for much of the way, before improving to lead from four out. Headed soon after, she regained the advantage at the penultimate flight and was ridden out on the run-in to score by half a length, with the first two finishing clear of the field.
