€100,000 colt heads red-letter day for Yeats
There was one sire on everyone’s lips at Tattersalls Ireland this week, the mighty Yeats, whose first foals have been selling like hotcakes.
On Wednesday he was responsible for the top price at Fairyhouse courtesy of a 100,000 euros colt out of Story View (by Tirol) offered by John O’Dwyer and bought by Ben Case.
"He has been bought for Lady Jane Grosvenor and will come back for resale," Case told EBN. "He’s a smashing colt with a very good pedigree. Time will tell whether we’ve done the right sort of thing but he is an excellent sort. Yeats looks to be stamping his stock and he has a number of nice foals around here."
Aiden Murphy, who had been underbidder on the 100,000 euros colt, bid 60,000 euros for another Yeats colt, out of the high-class Bilboa (Phantom Breeze) and offered from Kenilworth House Stud.
"I thought that he and the other Yeats were the two best foals here today and he’s been bought for resale," commented Murphy.
