Easy Back To Back Wins For Son Of Getaway

No Ordinary Joe (5g Getaway - Shadow Dearg, by Beneficial) made easy work of his winner’s penalty in the two and a half mile Novices’ Hurdle at Worcester on Friday evening.

The Nicky Henderson-trained bay won a bumper on debut in November, before finishing fourth in a Grade 2 on his hurdle bow and impressed in a novice hurdle earlier this month. Sent off favourite on his fourth start under Nico De Boinville, he raced at the back of the field for much of the way and made his move at the third last, asserting with ease at the final flight. Nudged along on the run-in, he won by four and a half lengths from Fire Away (Getaway), who finished clear of the third.

Owned by JP McManus, the son of Getaway was bred by Sean Reilly out of an own-sister to Grade 1 performers Shadow Eile and Corskeagh Royale.
