Exciting Gilgamboa G2 winner for Westerner
Gilgamboa (6g Westerner-Hi Native, by Be My Native) looked a high-class chasing prospect when making it two out of two over fences with a polished G2 victory at Limerick on St Stephen’s Day.
J P McManus’s son of Westerner, a top novice hurdler last season, stepped up on his chasing success at Navan last month to win the G2 Shannon Airport Novice Chase by 24 lengths in the manner of a classy performer.
“There was nothing about this performance that didn´t impress,” commented the Racing Post and trainer Enda Bolger is now understandably considering a step up to G1 company.
“That's a nice Christmas present! He's a very exciting and improving horse and jumping is his forte,” Bolger told irishracing.com. “It is nice to build on his win at Navan and he's getting very professional. He is very relaxed and settled and the G1 Arkle Chase at Leopardstown could be next for him.”
Westerner is standing for a fee of €4,500 at Castlehyde Stud in 2015.
