Exciting Son Of Getaway Bolts Up On Hurdle Debut
The future looks bright for Insurrection (6g Getaway - Rock In The Park, by Rock Hopper) after Paul Nicholls’ charge made an impressive hurdle debut at Exeter on Friday.
He was well-supported ahead of the Novices’ Hurdle which has previously been won by the likes of Bravemansgame, Sporting John (Getaway), Dynamite Dollars and Yanworth. Making all under Harry Cobden, the bay jumped well and travelled strongly throughout. Pushed clear from the second last, he ran on well to beat the even-money favourite by eight and a half lengths, with a 21 length gap back to a maiden hurdle winner in third.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “We've won this with some nice horses and Insurrection looked really good. We've always thought a lot of him. We could go down a similar route to Tahmuras and end up in what was the Tolworth. He's a talented horse.”
Insurrection is owned by the Noel Fehily Racing Syndicate, having been purchased following his impressive maiden win for William Harvey. The son of Grange Stud sire Getaway was bred by Tommy Newton.
