Exciting Son Of Walk In The Park Extends Unbeaten Record

Mt Fugi Park (6g Walk In The Park – The Real Athlete, by Presenting) completed a smart double for Walk In The Park on Tuesday when extending his unbeaten record in the Novices’ Hurdle at Leicester.

The bay emerged as an exciting prospect for Donnchadh Doyle at Belharbour and subsequently sold for £290,000, before making a successful rules debut for Jonjo O’Neill. He was sent off favourite when dropping down to two and a half miles on Tuesday and was held up at the back of the field by Jonjo O’Neill Junior. He showed signs of inexperience when pushed along before three out, and was ridden into second a flight later. Leading on the run-in, he kept on well to beat Alcedo (Vadamos) by half a length, as the pair finished clear of the remainder.

“He's got a lovely way of going,” the winning rider said, “He picked up quite nicely and we went well clear, I think the second is probably a fair animal too. He'll be a nice chaser, so whatever he does going into the spring we'll be happy with, but we'll be looking forward to him next year.”

The performance saw Mt Fugi Park shorten in price for the Albert Bartlett Hurdle at Cheltenham. Bred by Vincent and Jimmy Lawler, the exciting prospect is a half-brother to Graded chaser Real Milan (Milan)

Over at Newbury earlier that afternoon, the well-regarded Into The Park (5g Walk In The Park – La Sarrazine, by Medicean) ran out a commanding winner of the two mile maiden hurdle.

Trained by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, the Allan Stennett-owned bay finished third behind two smart types last time out and was sent off favourite to get off the mark on Tuesday. Making all under Micheal Nolan, he was shaken up to draw clear from the second last and was eased on the run-in to score by eight lengths.
