Exciting Son Of Westerner Never Headed On Rules Debut
Primoz (5g Westerner - Be Mine Tonight, by Carroll House) delighted new connections with an impressive rules debut in Saturday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Ayr.
The son of Westerner finished a close second on both his starts between the flags for Paurick O’Connor, before selling to Lucinda Russell and Paul McIvor for £150,000. Stephen Mulqueen partnered the bay on his first start since April and led from flag-fall, leaping into a clear advantage at the third last. Full of running at the penultimate flight, he stayed on strongly on the run-in to score by five lengths from dual winner I Love My Baie, while Grade 2 victor Florida Dreams took third.
Bred by Liam and Michael Flavin, Primoz is a full-brother to three-time winner The Birdie Crowe (Westerner). Their dam has a Westerner three-year-old yet to run, while her Walk In The Park yearling sold for €49,000 in January.
