Exciting Son Of Yeats Takes Aim At Cheltenham

All roads lead to Cheltenham for Chantry House (6g Yeats - The Last Bank, by Phardante), after Nicky Henderson’s charge remained unbeaten under rules at Newbury on Saturday.

Bought for £295,000 after winning his point-to-point, he won a bumper on his first start for JP McManus and went on to win over hurdles on his seasonal return at Cheltenham in December. Unsurprisingly, he was sent off favourite on his latest start and was travelling well under Barry Geraghty when producing a challenge at the final flight. Soon in front, he was pushed clear to win by four and a half lengths with ease.

Speaking after the race, Nicky Henderson commented, “Chantry House is a smart horse and was very green when he won at Cheltenham. I'd be surprised if he didn't want another half a mile, but Barry said he races very sweetly and is not aggressive in anyway, you just press the button and it works.”

The Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle are both possibilities for Chantry House next month. Bred by Micheal Conaghan, the son of Yeats provides a nice update for his four-year-old brother by Ocovango.
