Exciting Son Of Yeats Wins First Start Under Rules

Exciting point-to-point winner Chantry House (5g Yeats - The Last Bank, by Phardante) made a winning start for his new connections when taking Sunday’s bumper at Warwick.

Bought for £295,000 after winning a four-year-old maiden for Cian Hughes, the brown gelding was sent off a short-priced favourite for his first start for Nicky Henderson and JP McManus. Positioned midfield of 11 runners by Barry Geraghty, he made his move two furlongs from home and led inside the final furlong, running on under hands and heels to win by three and a half lengths.

Barry Geraghty commented after the race, “Chantry House is a nice horse. He has to come on for that, but he's nice for the future and you'd dream he'd be a three-mile chaser.”

Bred by Michael Conaghan, Chantry House is a half-brother to Grand Sefton Handicap Chase victor Linnel.
